Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: The International Military Sports Council Scientific Symposium Commences in Abu Dhabi

Under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, the Scientific Symposium of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) commenced in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of senior military leaders, experts, academics, and researchers from around the world.

Held every two years in one of the CISM member nations, the symposium is being hosted for the first time in the United Arab Emirates and the region, highlighting the theme:
“Physical Readiness and Resilience in the Armed Forces: Challenges and Foreseeing the Future.”

This year’s edition, organized over three days at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Abu Dhabi from 20 to 22 October, gathers more than 130 participants representing 35 member countries, in addition to 43 distinguished speakers who will deliver specialized presentations offering scientific insights and practical expertise on physical readiness and resilience within modern armed forces.

CISM “Grand Officer” Medal of Merit

During the opening ceremony, the President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) granted the CISM “Grand Officer” Medal of Merit to His Excellency Lt. General Staff Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, and His Excellency Khalifa Rashid Al Hameli, Director of the Office of His Highness the Minister of Defence, in recognition of their exceptional efforts and continued support of the Council’s initiatives.

The symposium was attended by well known international figures, including the CISM President, Vice Presidents, Secretary General, and board members along with heads of military delegations around the world. Their participation reflects the strong reputation and respect the United Arab Emirates has internationally.
